Ready for the World "Oh Sheila"
Oh Sheila…oh…oh…oh…oh Sheila. I actually heard this on the radio today. Another beautiful 80s love song. What a giving individual…Melvin Riley wants to love Sheila till they get it right, because, after all, “What’s good for the goose is always good for the gander” or something. I’ve told plenty of women that “I want to deedle eedle eedle-ee”, but more often than not, I end up feeling misunderstood.
You won’t regret letting RFTW love ya till the morning comes…

Wham "Wham Rap!"
We all remember Wham! carelessly whispering, but the first single they released was “Wham Rap!” Seriously. It gets off to a rough start with George Michael rapping, “Hey everybody take a look at me, I’ve got street credibility”. Umm…no, you don’t…and even if you did I’m pretty sure you lost at the 1:07 mark…capris for men, no socks AND white women’s flats? That's so NWA. And yet, despite the weird packaging, Michael is rapping to the same chorus that I used to as a former two hit wonder…“you’re more dead than alive in a nine to five” and “do you enjoy what you do? If not, just stop don’t stay there and rot”. Ironically, both George’s career and mine took an unusual turn in a men’s room. I can’t make fun of the dude. He might be my soul mate.
Wham! Bam! He is all man!

U2 "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For"
“I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” is that rare 80s song that I’m not ashamed to love today. I wonder aloud if U2 originally wrote this song as a prequel to the Tag Team hit, “Whoomp! (There it is)”. Still haven't found what you're looking for? Whoomp!

Bonnie Tyler "Total Eclipse of the Heart"
I’ll never hear this song again and not think of the wedding scene from Old School. Bonnie Tyler may have sung this song first, but the Dan Band sings it best. But, oh my gato did BT shoot an incredible video. It’s about 3 minutes longer than the Dan Band’s version, or slightly shorter than Old School. John Woo’s FACE/OFF was essentially a remake of Tyler's TEOTH video. White doves…flapping wings…white and black…good and evil…men in short shorts…rhythmic gymnasts, etc. It’s all over the top symbolic craziness until the end when the literal interpretation of “bright eyes” turning around is just odd.
Once upon a time there was light in my life, now there’s only love in the dark. I need these videos…I fuggin need them more than ever…
